Boutique Festival, Unique Style: What the Festival 2016 [PREVIEW]
How it's June already we'll never know, but summer festival season is now in full swing, and while other outlets may be covering the illustrious EDC Las Vegas, we've got our eye on a much more underrated party in the Pacific Northwest: What the Festival aka WTF.
Now, this festival is much more than just your average music festival (we'll never get sick of that line when it's actually true). What the Festival is a full blown 4-day pop-up community, featuring everything from bhangra classes to sound meditation to an illuminated forest with unique art you probably won't see anywhere else... oh and our personal must-have favorite: a silent disco... underneath a literal giant disco ball. Festival heaven.
Thought that was it? Wrong. You’ll be able to be one with nature at the beautiful festival grounds, which have panoramic mountain views (including Mt. Hood) and plenty of art installations and other fun stuff to check out in between sets. There’s even a movie theatre that shows independent films through the night until dawn. Or you can get a massage in the Oasis Spa to revive your danced-out body.
This up-and-coming camping festival also has a whopping eight - that's right eight - stages but we think we can ALL agree we are most excited for the reputable SPLASH POOL stage. It's special enough to have any water near (usually hot-as-fuck) festival grounds, but to actually have a stage IN the water - need we say more? You’ll find us intermittently dancing and having water gun fights and otherwise just lounging around the pool. Literally can’t think of anything that sounds better right now.
And the music, ohhhh the music! We hope you like bass because there's going to be a lot of it - Shades, G. Jones, Phutureprimitive, & Alix Perez just to name a few. For us personally, Ardalan, Bonobo, Claptone, J. Phlip, & FKJ are among the sets we’re most excited for this weekend. The festival runs Friday through Sunday - find more info here.
Can't wait until Friday? There will be an early entry pre-party on Thursday with huge acts such as Buku, Break Science, Mihkal, & more! We know the trek will be worth it.
Remember, this is a leave no trace event. You know the drill. Still time to be spontaneous and snag some last minute tickets here!
